Detectives ask to arrest both detainees in Yugra oil refinery fire case

MOSCOW, October 4 (Itar-Tass) —— The detectives requested for the arrest of the general director and the technical director of Invest Oil that were detained in the criminal case over the death of people in a fire, which broke out at an oil refinery in Yugra, where nine people were killed.

The Invest Oil technical director was detained within the investigation into the criminal case over violation of the safety rules at the explosion-hazardous facility, and the general director of this company was also detained on Wednesday, a source in the Russian Investigation Committee told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

“The technical director is about to be put in custody. The detectives also requested about the arrest of the Invest Oil general director,” the source said.

On September 29, the fire broke out in the oil sludge processing shop that killed nine people and another nine people were injured. Four injured people were urgently airlifted for treatment in Moscow on October 1.

“Several criminal expertises were scheduled in the criminal case, the witnesses are being interrogated to find the reasons for the incident, as well as the officials in charge of the fire safety at the enterprise. The detectives continue to expose the officials, which are involved in this crime. The investigation in the criminal case continues,” the source underlined.
