Georgia polls prelim results to be announced at about 11:00 Wednesday

The Georgian Dream coalition is in the lead by polling 55.01 percent of the vote

TBILISI, October 3 (Itar-Tass) — The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of Georgia is to make public in full the preliminary results of the parliamentary elections at about 11:00, local time, CEC officials announced.

According to CEC data, following the processing of ballot-papers at 3,566 polling stations out of 3,766 ones (or 94.69 percent of their aggregate number), the Georgian Dream coalition is in the lead by polling 55.01 percent of the vote.

The United National Movement party, which has governed the country for the past nine years, gained 40.14 percent of the vote. No other party has been able to approach the five-percent barrier that was necessary to overcome in order to win seats in parliament.
