Voters turnout at Georgia's election 61 percent

The Central Electoral Commission is going to report the first preliminary results after 03:00 hours Tuesday

TBILISI, October 1 (Itar-Tass) — Voters turnout in Georgia’s parliamentary election as reported by 98% polling stations was 61% at 20:00 hours local time /16:00 hours GMT/, Eka Azarashvili, the press secretary of the country’s Central Electoral Commission told reporters.

The voting procedures were unmarred by any major incidents and were fully transparent, she said adding: “The voting went along in full view of dozens of thousands of observers, representatives of political parties and the mass media.”

Azarashvili also said the measures that precede the opening of the ballot boxes would take about sixty to ninety minutes. After that, the ballot boxes will be unsealed and the vote counting will begin.

The Central Electoral Commission is going to report the first preliminary results after 03:00 hours Tuesday.
