Police fine man shooting into air in celebration in central Moscow

“A handgun firing non-lethal rounds has been seized, and the man has to pay a 2,000-rouble fine,” a spokesman said

MOSCOW, October 1 (Itar-Tass) — Police have seized a traumatic handgun from the man who was shooting into the air from a wedding motorcade in central Moscow on Sunday, the press service of the Moscow police department reported on Monday.

“A handgun firing non-lethal rounds has been seized, and the man has to pay a 2,000-rouble fine,” a spokesman said. Police will consider stripping him of the license to carry firearms.

Police appeal to all citizens who recorded the shooting itself to help, the spokesman added.

About 15 people were detained and brought to a police station on Sunday after an incident in which a wedding motorcade shot into the air in the centre of Moscow. Administrative protocols were drawn up.

Traffic police blocked eight wedding cars heading for the wedding party in the centre of Moscow, at the intersection of the Mokhovaya and Tverskaya Streets, just a stone’s throw from the Kremlin, for shooting into the air. “Several persons (born in North Caucasian republics) were detained,” Moscow police department’s spokesman said on Sunday. No one was hurt.
