MOSCOW, October 1 (Itar-Tass) — Vice-Premier Dmitry Rogozin intends to secure a real punishment of all those implicated in the illegal privatization of facilities in the defence industry of Russia.
Speaking in the "Sunday Evening with Vladimir Solovyov" programme on the Russia-1 TV channel, Rogozin said, "I have already referred documents (to prosecutor's office) about a number of defence-industry facilities that were most audaciously privatized by people who absolutely lost any fear in the belief that the 20 years of underhand undertakings would last for ever. All the documents are currently in the prosecutor's office. I shall see to it in person that we have available (documents about) actual offences complete with family names, first names, and patronymics".
Rogozin said the aviation, space, and defence industries will have "rules, a kind of small red flags beyond which noone should get because the director of an enterprise is not its owner because this is a defence facility".
The directors of enterprises in a number of branches of industry, including the space sector, had a salary amounting to five million roubles a month while those enterprises' workers received from 15,000 to 25,000 roubles a month, the Vice-Premer added.
Rogozin recalled that a state programme for the development of armaments had been approved in Russia. Twenty trillion roubles had been assigned for the purposes. Besides, three trillion roubles will be allocated fort he preparation of industry for technical re-equipment. "What is important is not which amounts of money are invested in the defence industry. What does matter is to secure that the funds assigned are not embezzled, that the money is used wisely so that each copeck would earn a rouble. Why is it important to invest in the defence sector? Because it has always been the locomotive of the entire industry," Rogozin said in conclusion.
