MOSCOW, September 30 (Itar-Tass) — A woman trying to cross the road not at a crosswalk in Noginsk, Moscow region, was hit by a car driven by a policeman, and was hospitalized with different injuries, the press service of the Moscow region’s police department reported on Sunday.

“According to early reports, the woman tried to cross the road not at a crosswalk in front of approaching vehicles in violation of traffic rules,” an officer from the press service said. The driver of one of the vehicles, a criminal police staffer, could not avoid hitting the woman.

“Expertise has shown that the policeman was sober and was off duty at that time. After hitting the woman he called the ambulance and offered her necessary assistance until medics arrived,” he said.

The pregnant woman was rushed to hospital with injuries. Police look into the incident. If the police officer is found guilty he will be sacked from law enforcement agencies, and his leadership will be held administratively responsible.
