MOSCOW, September 30 (Itar-Tass) — The FIFA World Football Cup in 2018 will cost Russia about 600 billion roubles, Russian Minister of Sports and chairman of the Russia 2018 steering committee Vitaly Mutko told a briefing on Sunday.
“We have made preliminary calculations of investments needed to complete the project. Of course, we understand that the figure is not final. We can speak about more precise figure after all estimates and specifications are made. According to an analytical report, we need to finance 1,070 various facilities and events. Specialists assessed costs at 600 billion roubles, with halve of the sum to come from private investments, and the rest – from the state,” he said.
