TSKHINVAL, September 29 (Itar-Tass) —— South Ossetia has informed the mission of EU observers in Georgia about the attack on a border guard post in the Ossetian village of Karzman.
Presidential envoy for post-conflict settlement Khokh Gagloyev told Itar-Tass that his office, using the hotline, informed members of the mission about the fact of firing at the South Ossetian border guard post and the detention of a Georgian policeman. However, there were no initiatives to hold an urgent meeting in connection with the incident in accordance with the mechanism to prevent and respond to incidents, he said.
The mission of EU observers works in Georgia. Within their control is the buffer zone along the South Ossetian border.
The South Ossetian law-enforcement authorities continue the investigation into the incident. Georgian policeman Mogol Tomiashvili detained in South Ossetia's territory is taken to Tskhinval. The man was armed when he was detained.
