TSKHNVAL, September 29 (Itar-Tass) —— A border post on the South Ossetian border with Georgia was fired on. As ITAR-TASS learnt at the State Security Committee (KGB) of the republic, the incident occurred in the village of Karzman bordering on Georgia last night.
“Today at 03.40, the post of the KGB Border Service in Karzman was fired on from fire arms and an under- barrel mortar. Officers of the Border Service didn’t return fire. Nobody was injured in this attack,” a representative of the KGB press service said.
When the shooting stopped, border-guards conducted a search operation as a result of which a Georgian citizen was detained. “Georgian citizen Mogol Tomiashvili, detained on the territory of South Ossetia, turned out to be an officer of the Interior Ministry. A M4 carbine of American make with an under-barrel mortar was confiscated from him,” the source said.
At present, investigation events are underway.
