MOSCOW, September 28 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s State Duma has voted for creating a new, thirteenth committee – for mass media affairs.
The decision was approved by a 436 majority vote with no nays or abstentions.
“At present the issues of media policies and information technologies are the domain of the committee on culture. However, as experience shows, this branch of legislation has always been treated as an independent one,” the State Duma’s rules of procedure committee said. It also recalled that there was a mass media committee in all previous State Dumas.
