5 Russian nationals arrested in Japan for stealing over 140 cars

They stole cars to remove engines and then ship them to Russia, to Vladivostok in particular

TOKYO, September 28 (Itar-Tass) — Japan’s police reported on Friday about the arrest of five Russian nationals suspected of stealing over 140 cars.

The operation to find the criminal group was carried out jointly by police departments of Hyogo and Okayama prefectures in the southwest of the main Japanese island – Honshu. Reports say the arrested have acknowledged their guilt. The case has already gone to the prosecutor’s office.

According to police, they stole cars to remove engines and then ship them to Russia, to Vladivostok in particular. The damage is worth over 1.8 million dollars.
