ASTANA, September 27 (Itar-Tass) —— Kazakh border guards used force to detain seven Russia citizens who had violated the republic state border. Two persons were wounded, the press service of the border service of Kazakhstan’s National Security Committee reported on Thursday.
“On Wednesday, September 26, 2012, pilots of a Mi-8 coastal guards helicopter patrolling Kazakhstan’s sector of the Caspian Sea spotted two small boats that had violated the border,” the press service said. The crews of both boats ignored border guards’ demand to stop. “Instead, they sped up and tried to flee from Kazakhstan’s territorial waters making dangerous maneuvers,” according to the press service. “In line with article 31 of the Kazakh law on the state border, the helicopter pilots had to open fire at the boat’s engines to have them stopped. The engines were destroyed and the boats stopped.”
Two of seven persons onboard these boats were wounded. They were offered medical help. Now, according to the press service, there is no danger to their lives.
“The other five trespassers were detained. They might be charged with deliberate violation of Kazakhstan’s state border, part 2, article 330 of the Criminal Code,” the press service said.
