VLADIVOSTOK, September 26 (Itar-Tass) — The Stella fishing vessel flying the flag of Cambodia was detained near the coast of the Primorsky Territory on Tuesday for illegal crab fishing in Russian waters. The press group of the Primorsky Territory Border Guard Department told Itar-Tass that the vessel was spotted by the Komandor border patrol ship abeam Cape Baklaniy on the edge of the territorial sea of ··Russia.

“The vessel for some time did not obey the border guards’ order to stop and tried to escape by manoeuvring. This time was enough for the crew to get rid of the catch,” the border guard department said.

On Wednesday, the boat was escorted to the port of Nakhodka where the incident will be investigated. There were 13 people on board the fishing vessel, all of them are citizens of Russia.

Since the beginning of the year, the Coast Guard forces of the Russian Border Guard Department for the Primorsky Territory has detained 14 ships, half of which were foreign. Thanks to the actions of the border guard units as many as 14,000 live crabs were returned to sea, which prevented economic damage to the state in the amount of more than 9 million roubles.
