ULYANOVSK, September 26 (Itar-Tass) — People's Artist of Russia Zurab Tsereteli opens a one-man exhibition of works and unveils a monument to Pyotr Stolypin here on Wednesday.
At the exhibition, Tsereteli will display works done in different periods. This is the largest exhibiiton of his works in recent years, an official in the region governor's press service told Itar-Tass.
On Wednesday afternoon, a monument to Pyotr Stolypin, Russia's Prime Minister and the leader of the third Duma from 1906 to 1911, will be unveiled at a ceremony. The monument has been presented to the region as a gift. It is erected outside the office building of the State Agricultural Academy which was named after Stolypin earlier this year. Tsereteli will meet with journalists to tell them about his creative activities and about his work on the monument.
Tamara Devyatkina, deputy head of the Ulyanovsk Region government, said, "The monument is to be unveiled and the one-man exhibtion opened within the scope of the 2nd International Cultural Forum and the International "Plastov Autumn" Assembly. Arkady Plastov (1893-1972) was a Russian socialist realist painter.
"Zurab Tsereteli has participated in the building and artistic styling of large facilities in this city. In 2003, the Ulyanovsk Museum of Arts was the first one in Russia's hinterland to present an exhibition of Tsereteli's works. In 2005, he presented a bronze bust of Alexander Pushkin to the regional center," Devyatkina emphasized.
