Import, use of genetically modified corn suspended in Russia

MOSCOW, September 25 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s consumer rights watchdog, Rospotrebnadzor, suspends import and turnover in the country’s territory of genetically modified corn Nk603, the service reported on Tuesday.

The decision was caused by a publication in the Food and Chemical Toxicology magazine a report of scientists from the University of Cannes /France/ and from the University of Verona /Italy/, where they present research results demonstrating negative influence of rats of genetically modified corn NK603.

The authority suspends import and turnover of corn until the authority receives full information on the matter.
