MOSCOW, September 25 (Itar-Tass) — Russian parachute jumper and world record winner Irina Sinitsyna is in coma after an unsuccessful parachute jump at the Californian airport Perris Valley, sport director of the Kolomna Aerograd, where the parachute jumper is training, Dmitry Khaitovsky told Itar-Tass.

“Last Sunday a large group of parachutists from various countries, including Russian parachute jumpers, has taken an attempt at breaking a skydiving record, making a geometrical figure – rectangle with the participation of 100 people in special aerodynamic suits. The incident occurred during the making of a skydiving stunt and the unfolding of the main parachute. Irina collided with someone from the skydivers in the air, then she got stuck in the cords and failed to open a backup parachute timely that did not open fully until the moment of collision with the ground. She is estimated to be extremely heavy condition, she is staying in coma,” Khaitovsky said.

Last summer Irina Sinitsyna became the main organizer and inspirer of the skydiving world record, when the Pearls of Russia team has made a white-blue-red flower from 88 female skydivers in the skies over Kolomna on July 21.

“All female teammates came out for a decisive attempt without any worries, absolutely concentrated and goal-seeking. Already in the free flight I saw my white sector, no girls had any fears. I was worried about the red sector, which had already made numerous mistakes in the making of the skydiving stunt, and I, violating all the rules of skydiving, for what I will be certainly blamed for, looked overhead to see whether all skydivers fixed their positions in the skydiving figure. But a real holiday came when Katya Panikar, our key skydiver, clapped her hands at the end of the skydiving stunt. It became clear that the world record is ours. Our next achievement, I hope, will be a figure of 100 female parachute jumpers, but this will happen already next year,” Sinitsyna shared her impressions in the emotional way to Itar-Tass.

The US doctors are fighting for the life of the Russian parachute jumper.
