MINSK, September 24 (Itar-Tass) —— The CIS Observer Mission assessed the parliamentary elections in Belarus objectively, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday, September 24.
“We welcome the balanced and objective assessment by the CIS Mission that did much work to monitor the election process in Belarus,” the ministry’s spokesperson Andrei Savinykh said.
At the same time, he expressed regret that “the OSCE Observer Mission, as in the previous years, could not distance itself completely from politicised assessments and conclusions that have no direct relation to the election process”.
He noted, however, the mission leadership’s readiness to cooperate with Belarus, “which would serve our common interests”.
“Dialogue and cooperation, not pressure and sanctions, allow us to move forward on issues that serve the interests of Belarus and our partners,” Savinykh said.
