MOSCOW, September 24 (Itar-Tass) — Moscow’s Tverskoi district court will hold a hearing on the “Innocence of Muslims” video on October 1. The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office has filed a lawsuit, demanding that “Innocence of Muslims” be recognized as extremist. The hearing was initially scheduled for October 17.

The video has produced great public response in Russian society.

A wave of protests swept a number of Muslim countries such as Libya, Egypt, Tunisia, Sudan, Yemen and Bangladesh after the video had appeared in the Internet. Crowds of protesters stormed the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, eastern Libya, killing four people, including U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens.

“Innocence of Muslims” depicts Islam as an inferior religion and people who profess it as an inferior race.
