RF’s grain harvest to reach about 70 mln tonnes in 2012

“This will allow us to solve internal tasks and even export grain,” Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said

GORKI, September 24 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s grain harvest will reach about 70 million tonnes in 2012, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said.

“The year is difficult and the crop failure is rather considerable. Grain harvest itself is planning to reach about 70 million tonnes, due to carryover storage, in order to ensure food security of our country,” Medvedev said at a meeting with the vice-prime ministers on Monday.

“This will allow us to solve internal tasks and even export grain,” he said.

According to Vice-Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich, “grain harvest will exceed the size of 70 million tonnes a little.”
