Compensation payments to families of An-28 crash victims begin

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, September 24 (Itar-Tass) — The payment of financial assistance and compensations from the regional budget to the families of those killed in the crash of the Antonov An-28 plane, which occurred 10 kilometres from the town of Palana on September 12, started in Kamchatka on Monday, the press service of the territorial government told Itar-Tass.

The amount of payments to the bereaved families is 200 thousand roubles each. The people who were injured in the crash will receive 100 thousand roubles. Financial assistance in the amount of 100 thousand roubles will be paid to the relatives of those killed in the disaster also by Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Airline, which owned the crashed plane.

The An-28 plane owned by Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Airline on September 12 was performing a flight on the route from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to Palana. There were 14 people on board, including two pilots and 12 passengers, among which there were two children. The aircraft collided with Mount Pyatibratka, 10.7 kilometres short of the destination. Ten people, including pilots and a four-year old girl, were killed. Four passengers got severe injuries, including a 13-year old boy. They are undergoing treatment at hospitals in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Palana.

A criminal case is investigated in connection with the plane crash.
