MINSK, September 23 (Itar-Tass) — Voter turnout in Belarus’ parliamentary elections has already reached 50 percent, according to the central election commission.

“The fact that 50 percent of voters put on the lists have cast their ballots proves that citizens vote rather actively,” CEC secretary Nikolai Lozovik said on Sunday.

Voter turnout in the Brest region reached 45 percent, in the Vitebsk region – 57.1 percent, in the Gomel region – 56.5 percent, in the Grodno region – 47.9 percent, in the Minsk region – 51.4 percent, in the Mogilev region – 54.8 percent, in Minsk – 39.7 percent and abroad - 40.1 percent.

Although 50 percent of voters have already cast their ballots, this does not mean that the parliament has been elected. The parliamentary elections are recognized as valid not in all 110 districts yet.

“No significant violations in the electoral districts were registered,” Lozovik said. “There are applications from some citizens, but as a rule they have no relation to the elections.”
