MOSCOW, September 23 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s President Vladimir Putin congratulated residents of Russia’s Arkhangelsk region with the 75th anniversary of the region’s establishment.
The greeting, placed on the president’s official site on the Internet, reads as follows:
“Over many years, your region has been playing a major role in Russia’s economic development, in strengthening of its defence and expanding of trade relations with foreign countries. You have every right to be proud of the many-centuries’ unique cultural traditions of your native northern region, you are keeping with care and you honour the memories about Khabarov and Dezhnev, Lomonosov and Ioann Kronshtadtsky, about many other outstanding people, who made huge input in the history of Pomorye and the entire country, in the chronicle of the Fatherland’s military Glory.
Today, the region faces many tasks. First of all, organisation of high technology production, support of businesses and entrepreneurship, attraction of big investment in industries, transport, and agriculture. They all will favour organisation of new jobs, which would mean improvement of the social infrastructures and higher living standards.
And, of course, it is extremely important to continue restoration of priceless monuments of architecture, to keep the spiritual heritage – everything which gives the specific atmosphere to Arkhangelsk’s region, to promote more actively the region as a potential centre of ecology tourism.
I wish you every success, wellbeing and all the best.”
