Patriarch Kirill to consecrate a new church in Moscow

The Russian Orthodox Church and the Moscow government have launched a project for the construction of 200 new churches and buildings for missionary and social work

MOSCOW, September 23 (Itar-Tass) — Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill will consecrate a new church in southern Moscow. The Church of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist in the Brateyevo district is the first to have been erected under a program for the construction of 200 new churches in Moscow, the Russian Orthodox Church said in a statement published on its official website.

The consecration ritual will start at 9:30 on Sunday.

The Russian Orthodox Church and the Moscow government have launched a project for the construction of 200 new churches and buildings for missionary and social work. Eleven modular churches will appear in Moscow in 2012.
