Medvedev signs resolution on creation of national centre for young talents

The new body will help organise “a system for selecting and working with talented children so that none of them is neglected”

MOSCOW, September 22 (Itar-Tass) —— Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has signed a resolution ordering the creation of a national coordination centre for support to young talented people.

The new body will help organise “a system for selecting and working with talented children so that none of them is neglected”, the prime minister said.

Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets that the new project would offer additional education to children. “There are no untalented children. We must help each one reveal his talents,” she said, adding that about 10 percent of children have outstanding abilities.

In the next three years, additional education will become available not to 50 percent as now but to 75 percent.

Golodets believes that the state should “select children and help them develop their extraordinary abilities by creating a system of social lifts for them”.
