SOCHI, September 22 (Itar-Tass) — Volgograd Region has signed six contracts at the amount of about 15 billion roubles at the International Investment Forum currently underway in Sochi, governor Sergei Bozhenov said on Saturday.
The region also concluded a contract with the Agency for Strategic Initiatives Promoting New Projects, the governor told Itar-Tass.
An agreement with ROSS Holding envisions the construction of a processing enterprise to produce starch and sugar substitutes. Investments will reach 1.7 billion roubles. The purpose of a project concluded with Praxair Volgograd is to build a factory to manufacture air separation products. The project will allow the region to save over 30 percent of electricity. Investments will amount to 2.2 billion roubles.
An agreement was signed with the Regional Hotel Chain to construct Park Inn Volgograd with 150 rooms. Constructors have built a platform and erected communications. Under an agreement with Agrokomplex Volzhsky and Rosselkhozbank, a high-tech greenhouse complex is planning to be constructed to plant vegetables. The project will allow the region to create about 700 jobs, the Volgograd Region governor said.
The region also signed a five-party deal between Spolka Akcyjna NEWAG, MODERTRANS POZNAN, the Public Rail Transport design centre and the Volgograd administration in order to manufacture carriages with the use of Polish technologies. Investments will reach 1.4 billion roubles. A contract with Gloria Jeans envisions the expansion of cooperation to set up garment manufacture in Volgograd municipalities that will create 3,500 jobs.
According to the Volgograd Region governor, any investment contract is very important for the region’s administration. “We are accompanying any project: by constructing the infrastructure or by subsidising the rate of interest. Today we rivet attention to any investment project. One million rouble investments or ten billion U.S. dollar investments are very important for us. The government’s task is to create comfortable conditions for Russian and foreign investors,” the governor pointed out.
