MOSCOW, September 20 (Itar-Tass) — Acting head of Khimki Oleg Shakhov has been registered as a candidate for the post of mayor of this city in the Moscow Region, Shakhov reported in his Twitter blog.
“For the first time in my I’ve become an officially registered candidate. Thank you all for your support, together we will win,” he wrote.
Shakhov runs in the election as a self-nominee, but with the support of the United Russia party.
More than 20 candidates have been nominated in the Khimki mayoral elections that will be held on October 14.
The Moscow regional election commission has so far not published on its official website information about Oleg Shakhov’s registration as a candidate for the mayor’s post.
