MAKHACHKALA, September 18 (Itar-Tass) — Police in the town of Khasavyurt, Dagestan, killed a suspected militant as he offered armed resistance.
"On Tuesday, police stopped a man for ID check on Makhachkala Highway at 16:20, Moscow time. The latter pulled out a Stechkin pistol and tried to open fire, but the police officers managed to neutralize him," a representative of the regional department of the Investigative Committee told Itar-Tass.
A search of the destroyed militant found two grenades. Police have identified the gunman, but declined to name him "in the interests of investigation."
