TSKHINVAL, September 18 (Itar-Tass) —— South Ossetia’s President Leonid Tibilov claimed he was aware of Georgia’s military preparations.

On Tuesday, during a meeting with co-chairs of the Geneva discussions, he said he had information about military preparations along the entire borderline.

“We have information about the Georgian side’s major military preparations. Many fortified facilities are being built in Georgia’s regions bordering South Ossetia’s Leningorsky region. Small arms’ storages are being organised in Georgia’s bordering villages,” the president said adding he considered those measures as preparations for a war against South Ossetia. “it is not the time to rattle the sabre now. Wars claim victims from both sides. We are preparing now for celebration of the 22nd anniversary of the independence, and for all these years we have been for peaceful life.”

The president asked the co-chairs of the Geneva discussions to let the Georgian leaders know that entire responsibility for possible provocations would be on Tbilisi only.

The Geneva discussions on security in Transcaucasia feature representatives of Russia, Georgia, South Ossetia, Abkhazia, the US, the EU, the OSCE, and the UN. Another round of the discussions is due in October. Key topic of the Geneva discussions is a draft document on non-use of force against South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
