MOSCOW, September 17 (Itar-Tass) —— The World Congress of Compatriots will be held in St. Petersburg on October 26-27, an official at the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday, commenting on a meeting of the Governmental Commission on the Affairs of Compatriots Living Abroad. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov chaired the meeting of the commission.

“Participants in the meeting discussed preparations for the World Congress of Compatriots due in St. Petersburg on October 26-27, as well as adopted the commission’s action plan for 2013,” the diplomatic official said, adding, “They also considers a set of issues linked with the interaction of the federal authorities with the Russian-speaking community living abroad.”
