MOSCOW, September 16 (Itar-Tass) — About twenty people were detained at Moscow’s Chistoprudny Boulevard on Sunday for an attempt to hold an unsanctioned march on traffic area, the press service of the Moscow department of the Russian Interior Ministry reports.
“A group of people tried to enter a road surface on Chistoprudny Boulevard with an aim to hold an unauthorized march. Police detained about 20 people,” the press service went on to say. They will be taken to a police station to face charges of administrative offence.
An opposition rally took place at the Academician Sakharov Avenue on Saturday. It finished at 22:00 Moscow time.
The rally passed without incidents. Left Front coordinator Sergei Udaltsov was detained after the rally for an attempt to organize an unsanctioned march in the direction of Chistoprudny Boulevard.
The opposition leader told Itar-Tass by telephone that he didn’t why he had been detained.
“I was leaving the square and I don’t understand why I was detained,” Udaltsov said.
