ST. PETERSBURG, September 15 (Itar-Tass) —— More than 300 people participated in the opposition march in St. Petersburg on Saturday, the press service of the regional police department said.
Demonstrators were originally planned to form three columns for the march, but since the number was not large enough, they united in one column with ten LGBT representatives at the rear, police sources said.
No incidents were reported during the march.
A meeting is being held on the Mars Field, and other participants have joined. A total of over 800 people are present, the press service reported.
No serious incidents at mass events were reported either from other Russian cities, the Russian Interior Ministry's press centre said.
According to the information as of 14:00 Moscow time, public and political events ended in some cities. Fifty four people participated in the action in Abakan, 30 in Chita, 55 in Belgorod, 30 in Kirov, 30 in Dmitrov and 30 in Irbit. Two mass events took place in Yekaterinburg with 70 and 350 participants. A hundred people came for the action in Tomsk, and 42 in Ulyanovsk. Five people participated in picketing in Vladimir, a press centre source said.
All the events were held without incidents.
There were no order violations, the press centre noted.
