Delegation of young Norwegian Navy officers to visit Russian North Fleet

They will take part in the shooting practice, visit warships and the fleet’s training center

ARKHANGELSK, September 14 (Itar-Tass) —— A delegation of young Norwegian Navy officers will visit the Russian North Fleet main base, Severomorsk.

“The visit will start on September 18 in development of cooperation between the Armed Forces of Russia and Norway,” North Fleet spokesman Capt. 1st Class Vadim Serga told Itar-Tass on Friday.

“The Norwegian servicemen will visit a separate marine regiment of the North Fleet,” he said. They will take part in the shooting practice, visit warships and the fleet’s training center. There will be also a tour of the K-21 submarine museum and a sightseeing tour of Murmansk. “Young officers of the Russian North Fleet will pay a visit to Norway next year,” he said.

Cooperation between the Russian North Fleet and the Norwegian Navy has been developing for years. Its most illustrative example is the Pomor naval exercises held annually in the Barents, Norwegian and North Seas.
