Voting to be webcast at elections on October 14

The Communications Ministry was instructed to collect and store the records of video broadcasting

MOSCOW, September 14 (Itar-Tass) — The voting will be webcast on the day of the elections on October 14, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said in a Friday decree on the video broadcasting of the voting and vote count.

In particular, the Russian Ministry of Telecommunications and Mass Media will provide for the online video broadcasting of the voting and vote count “at the elections of the chief executives in several constituent territories in the Russian Federation, legislative authorities in Russian federal constituents and at municipal elections in municipal districts, city districts and the cities, where the population exceeds 250,000 people.” The Communications Ministry was also instructed to collect and store the records of video broadcasting. Rostelecom is assigned as a supplier of the telecommunications services.

When providing the video broadcasting sessions the supreme bodies of the executive authorities in Russian constituent territories and local self-government bodies should grant the access of technical specialists to the premises of the polling stations for installation, adjustment and technical maintenance of equipment and to take some measures to provide for electric power supplies and the good order of equipment and assist in other works, which are needed for video broadcasting.
