Russia condemns the killing of the American ambassador to Libya

SOCHI, September 13 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia condemns the killing of the American ambassador to Libya. “The only possible attitude to this is that we condemn this crime and express condolences to the bereaved families,” Russian President Vladimir Putin told reporters. “Killing a human is a horrible crime, and in this case it was the killing of diplomats, of people protected by international conventions, whose life and health are protected by international law,” the president said.

The US Consulate in the city of Benghazi, east Libya, on September 12 came under fire from small arms and grenade throwers. The building caught fire and this killed US Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and three other Americans.
