There were no civilian casualties

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 12 (Itar-Tass) – Five alleged terrorists have been killed in a special operation in the town of Kulsary, the Atyrau region in western Kazakhstan, the press service of Kazakhstan’s Prosecutor General’s Office reported on Wednesday.

“Five corpses and one person with grave wounds were discovered at the scene after the operation had been completed,” the press service went on to say.

Police in Kulsary learnt that several persons linked to terrorist activities were hiding in an apartment building on Wednesday. An anti-terror operation was launched to detain them. All tenants had been evacuated from the apartment bloc.

“The trapped terrorists had blown up several explosive devices even before the police raid started. They also opened fire from fire arms, wounding one policeman,” the Prosecutor General’s Office reports.

There were no civilian casualties.

On September 5, a local resident died in a self-made bomb explosion in a private house in the town of Atyrau. Police that examined the scene found three self-made explosive devices and components to them in the house.

Investigators established that the dead man had nurtured an idea of committing a violent action against law enforcers. Later, police arrested the man’s four accomplices. All the aforesaid persons, including the ones killed on Wednesday, were members of one criminal gang.
