MOSCOW, September 11 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin has proposed to create a space exploration base on the Moon.

This initiative can become a super task for Russia’s space programme and give a stimulus to the development of science and industry, he said in an interview with Vesti FM radio station on Tuesday.

“Russian cosmonauts learnt to work in the orbit and conduct necessary experiences there. Why should not they try to build a big lunar base that would create the groundwork for further “jumps” in science,” Rogozin said.
