Opposition to negotiate “March of Millions” route with authorities on September 15

Earlier, the Moscow mayor’s office denied the opposition the right to hold a march from Tverskaya Zastava (Tverskaya outpost) to Borovitskaya Square

MOSCOW, September 10 (Itar-Tass) — Opposition has officially turned down a route for ‘The March of Millions” action suggested by the Moscow mayor’s office. The action is scheduled to take place on September 15, Pyotr Tsarkov, one of the organizers, told Itar-Tass on Monday.

“We have officially notified the Moscow mayor’s office that we cannot march from the Luzhniki stadium to Andreyevskiy Bridge and hold a rally on Frunzenskaya embankment. This route leaves us no chance to deliver the tasks and goals of our action to people because this area is thinly populated,” Tsarkov explained.

“In our letter to the mayor’s office we wrote that we were read to consider any route within the Moscow Garden Ring. We are not offering any concrete routes. We believe that they will be a subject for discussion at out talks with the mayor’s office,” Tsarkov added.

Earlier, the Moscow mayor’s office denied the opposition the right to hold a march from Tverskaya Zastava (Tverskaya outpost) to Borovitskaya Square and hold a 50,000-strong rally there.

In the meantime, Sergei Udaltsov, the Left Front coordinator, told Itar-Tass on Monday that representatives of the mayor’s office and “The March of Millions” organizing committee would discuss the march’s route on September 15.
