MOSCOW, September 10 (Itar-Tass) — The State Duma lower house of Russia’s parliament will not consider on September 12 the issue of MP Gennady Gudkov’s (A Just Russia) stripping of mandate because there is not enough time for the inclusion of this item on the meeting agenda, vice speaker of the lower house Sergei Zheleznyak (United Russia) told journalists.

“The meeting of the commission, which will consider the materials of the Prosecutor General’s Office will be held at 14:00 today, the MP said. “The meeting of the Duma Council (determining its agenda) is scheduled for 13:00, so this issue cannot be addressed by the Council.” He explained that if the relevant commission on Monday makes a decision, it will be put forward at the next Duma Council meeting, which will take place on Thursday and then will determine the date when the issue will be raised at a plenary meeting.

However, Zheleznyak did not rule out that the question of stripping Gudkov of parliamentary powers can be considered on Friday, September 14.

The head of the United Russia faction, Andrei Vorobyov, earlier also confirmed to reporters that the issue of the Gudkov case could not be considered either on September 11 or 12.

Gennady Gudkov earlier stated that the issue of stripping him of the parliamentary powers could be discussed at a plenary meeting of the State Duma on September 12.
