One person dies in roof collapse incident in Kuban region

MOSCOW, September 8 (Itar-Tass) — One person died when a roof collapsed at the central hospital in the city of Slavyansk-na-Kubani (Slavyansk–on-Kuban) at 16:50 Moscow time on Saturday, the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations reports.

A duty officer received an alarm call at 16:55 local time on Saturday.

Most people managed to leave the building on their own. However, three people were trapped under the rubble. Rescuers pulled out one person at 17:40 Moscow time.

“The dead body of a woman was recovered at 19:20 Moscow time. One more person may still be lying under the rubble,” the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations went on to say.

The accident occurred in the hospital’s food unit which stands away from the main hospital building. The roof collapsed on an area of 70 square meters.
