VLADIVOSTOK, September 8 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian President Vladimir Putin has called on the leaders of the APEC economies to continue efforts to liberalize trade and promote integration processes in the Asia Pacific region.

“Today, not only we but experts across the globe think that the Asia Pacific region is a driving force of the global economy and it pushes us to strengthen cooperation in this important region,” Putin said on Saturday at a reception in honour of participants in the APEC summit. “We are committed to the ideas of liberalization of trade and regional economic integration.”

“We consider it a key APEC achievement that we have a possibility to have free discussions to find ways to develop our economies and contribute to the prosperity of our peoples,” the Russian leader said. “It was Russia’s task to promote such dialogue.”
