VLADIVOSTOK, September 7 (Itar-Tass) — Russian President Vladimir Putin who arrived in Vladivostok hosting the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit on Thursday will take part in a meeting with representatives of the Asia-Pacific business elite, presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said.

The president’s working schedule includes bilateral meetings with Chinese President Hu Jintao and the Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah.

“By tradition the forum’s business programme will be extensive,” Ushakov said. “The business summit will bring together over 500 leading business people of the Asia-Pacific region. Putin will deliver a keynote speech at the forum’s opening.”

Moreover, on Saturday the leaders of APEC economies will meet with members of the APEC Business Advisory Council, a key mechanism of dialogue between the state and businesses within the APEC framework.

“One of the advantages of the forum is close communication with business. From the very beginning, the forum was oriented towards settling specific issues of trade and investment liberalization and removing the barriers that hamper free movement of goods, services and capitals, i.e. the problems that play the key role in sustaining business activity and ensuring economic development,” Ushakov explained.
