MOSCOW, September 6 (Itar-Tass) — No Russian nationals were injured in the quake hitting Costa Rica on Wednesday, September 5, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Thursday.
The quake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale had the epicenter on the Pacific coast in Puntarenas Province, approximately 130 kilometers away from capital San Jose.
President of Costa Rica Laura Chinchilla said the authorities of the country work actively to determine the scope of the damage and liquidate the aftermath of the quake.
“According to the Russian Embassy to Costa Rica, no one among the Russian nationals staying in that country, including staffers of our foreign missions and members of their families, was injured,” the ministry said.
“The Russian diplomatic mission functions in its routine regime and maintains contacts with fellow countrymen living in Costa Rica,” the ministry reported.
