Russia to deliver 52 helicopters Mi-171 to China

The supplies of helicopters are planned for 2012-2014

MOSCOW, September 6 (Itar-Tass) — The Russian main arms exporting company Rosoboronexport and the Chinese company Poly Technologies Inc signed the contracts for the delivery of 52 transport helicopters Mi-171E to China, Rosoboronexport said in a statement on Thursday.

The supplies of helicopters are planned for 2012-2014. Under the contracts first eight helicopters Mi-171E are planned to be delivered to China in 2012, other helicopters are expected to be supplied in 2013 and 2014.

The contracts are signed to develop an agreement, which was concluded between the holding Helicopters of Russia and Poly Technologies Inc in 2009, in order to deliver 32 helicopters Mi-171E to China. The groups of controlling technical experts of the purchaser are satisfied with the quality of assembling, the quality of purchased component parts, which are installed on the helicopters Mi-171E, technical accompanying documentation, Rosoboronexport said in the statement.

China has been operating helicopters Mi-8/17 for a long time and successfully, performing a very broad scope of tasks. These helicopters are indispensable in the traffic of cargoes and passengers, geological prospecting and patrolling, fire extinguishing and offshore shipments.

The civil helicopter Mi-171E is produced at the Ulan-Ude aviation plant, which is incorporated in the holding Helicopters of Russia. Mi-171E is provided with the equipment for the search and rescue and for special operations, including those in the nighttime. This equipment will make it possible to use the helicopter absolutely efficiently in a broad scope of conditions for operation, particularly in the highlands and the hot climate and at any time of the day.
