UN SC to discuss situation in Syria at ministerial meeting Sept 26

The ministers will discuss the conflicts and changes that have occurred in Arab countries over the past several years

UNITED NATIONS, September 5 (Itar-Tass) —— The U.N. Security Council will discuss the situation in Syria and other Arab countries at a ministerial meeting on Syria on September 26, German Permanent Representative to the United Nations Peter Wittig, who is the current chairman of the Security Council in September, said on Wednesday, September 5.

The ministers will discuss the conflicts and changes that have occurred in Arab countries over the past several years.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and League of Arab States Secretary-General Nabil el-Araby.

The ministerial meeting will coincide in time with a general political discussion at the 67th session of the U.N. General Assembly from September 25 to October 1.

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is expected to lead the Russian delegation to the session.
