MOSCOW, September 5 (Itar-Tass) — The British authorities have apologised for the incident with the Russian Paralympic volleyball team, whose bus was fired at in London.
“The Russian Embassy in Great Britain and the Russian Paralympic delegation are in close contact with the British law enforcement agencies with regard to the September 4 incident with the bus that was carrying the Russian volleyball team. The investigation is under way. We expect the police to provide official findings shortly,” the Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday, September 5.
None of the Russian athletes was injured as a result of the incident.
Britain offered its apologies.
The bus with the Russian Paralympic volleyball team came under fire on the way to a game with Morocco, an outsider in Group A, in which Russia plays. Russia beat Morocco 3-0 (25:13, 25:8, 25:11) and won second place in Group A.
The quarterfinals, in which the four strongest teams from two groups ware to meet, are scheduled for September 5.
