MOSCOW, September 3 (Itar-Tass) — The Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) has headed the Top-100 of Russia’s biggest telecommunication companies. The rating was compiled by TASS-Telecom on the basis of the reports of the Russian communication operators’ profits in 2011.
In the period under review, MTS’s earnings exceeded 362 billion roubles (USD 1 = RUB 32.42). Vympelcom and Rostelecom ranked second and third with 360.9 billion roubles and 296 billion roubles of profits respectively in 2011.
The three leading telecommunication giants of Russia were followed by Megafon (242.6 billion roubles) and the Pochta Rossii (Mail of Russia) (120.7 billion roubles). The ten top also included Tele2 Russia, Sitronix, TTK, RTRS and Sviaztransneft.

In addition, Moscow accumulates major financial flows of the sector. Sixty-two out of 100 companies included in the top list headquartered in Moscow. Ninety-seven percent (1.672 trillion roubles) of all participants in the rating account for those companies.
