MOSCOW, September 3 (Itar-Tass) — All 159 Russian tourists - customers of the CherryTur bankrupt tour operator have returned home, the press service of the Russian Federal Tourism Agency (Rosturizm) reported on Monday.
“As of the morning of September 3, all 159 tourists have returned to Russia. Two flights were performed for this purpose: to Rostov-on-Don and to Krasnodar,” the agency said.
The RLU9708 plane of the RusLine air carrier with the remaining 45 Russian tourists departed on Sunday, September 2 from Pula Airport (Croatia) for Krasnodar at 20:12, local time (22:12 MSK). The Russians returned home overnight.
Also on September 2, a plane of Saratov Airlines took off with 116 Russian tourists from Pula Airport at 18:10 MSK.
“On Sunday, September 2, the Federal Tourism Agency held a meeting of the control headquarters for the development of a mechanism for emergency evacuation of Russian tourists who could not fly from Pula (Croatia) due to financial difficulties of the Russian tour operator CherryTur that has not paid for the charter transportation of tourists,” the agency explained.
As a result of multilateral negotiations between Rosturizm, the Rosturpomoshch association of tour operators in the sphere of ··outbound tourism, as well as the Saratov Airlines and RusLine air carriers an agreement on the transportation of Russian tourists home was reached.
On September 2, the CherryTur tour operator officially suspended its activities.
Rosturizm has opened a telephone hotline for tourists that have been affected by the action of the unscrupulous tour operator.
