Belovo bus terminal emergency response HQ set up in Kuzbass

GORNO-ALTAISK, September 3 (Itar-Tass) — The headquarters for the liquidation of the aftermath of the collapse of the roof of the Belovo town bus terminal and investigation of the accident causes have been established in Kuzbass. The headquarters are headed by governor of the Kemerovo Region Aman Tuleyev, the press-service of the regional administration reported on Monday.

According to the press service, part of the ceiling of the local bus terminal collapsed in Belovo on Sunday during construction work. The building was undergoing a total overhaul. One woman was killed in the accident and another 12 people were injured. At present, 11 injured people have been discharged from hospital and will undergo outpatient treatment. One man is still staying at hospital - his life is not in danger.

A special commission is working at the emergency site. It has established that the repair on the bus terminal building roof was carried out with violation of the order of the construction operations. The commission is also to find out why there were strangers at the construction site. The governor has demanded a thorough investigation into the incident and punishment of those responsible. He also ordered to hand over all the related materials to the investigating authorities.

Aman Tuleyev expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased woman, and all the people affected by the accident will receive financial aid and get free medical treatment. The governor also asked the heads of cities and districts, as well as the regulatory agencies to conduct comprehensive unscheduled inspections of all construction sites in the region. Special attention must be given to the safety of people during construction operations.
