VLADIVOSTOK, September 2 (Itar-Tass) — The facilities built for the APEC summit inspire confidence that the Primorsky Territory will attract solid investments, Governor Vladimir Miklushevsky told reporters in the APEC summit press centre on Sunday.
Many facilities were built during the preparation for the summit. Guests of the international meeting and then local residents will use them, he noted.
First of all, this is the transport infrastructure -- the modern airport, the second runway, 150 kilometres of roads, the modern Russian Federation University campus and the bridges across the Eastern Bosphorus Strait and the Golden Horn Bay.
"Of course, for us, these are not only facilities to hold the important international event, but rather infrastructure facilities that give us a serious opportunity and confidence that we will attract massive investments in the Primorsky Territory," Miklushevsky noted, adding that the region would present dozens of investment projects at the summit. A special pavilion of the Primorsky Territory will be opened, and the governor invited all to visit it.
Among the projects, Miklushevsky particularly dwelled on the one to create a tourism cluster.
"For us, the project is very important, as over 200 million people live (in countries) an hour and a half-two-three-hour flight from Vladivostok. These are northern China, Japan and South Korea. Of course, we expect guests to arrive here, in Primorye. For this, we have everything necessary. First of all, here is one of the five officially permitted gambling zones in Russia. We plan it will be some backbone, an anchor to create a tourism zone -- on the shore of the picturesque Muravyinaya Bay, not far from Artyom, some 20-minute drive from the airport," Miklushevsky said, noting once more that the transport infrastructure was fully ready to implement the project.
