VLADIVOSTOK, September 2 (Itar-Tass) — The final meeting of seniors APEC officials kicked off in Vladivostok on Sunday. It opened an official program of the APEC summit week.
The participants in the meeting will discuss a number of regional problems in the next three days such as liberalization of trade and investments, regional economic integration, food security, transport and logistics and intensive interaction aimed at innovative growth.
The senior APEC officials will work out final recommendations to the leaders of the forum’s economies which they are going to submit on September 8-9, 2012.
“Now, we are going to see the culmination of Russia’s year-long presidency of the APEC forum. The APEC events have finally reached Vladivostok on Russia’s Pacific coast,” Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov said in his opening speech at the meeting.
“Here it becomes particularly clear that Russia is part of the Asia-Pacific region,” he emphasized.
“We need to work hard and achieve considerable tangible results in order to make the meeting of our ministers and leaders effective,” Morgulov said.
